Ahhh...such a delightful week. An absolutely phenomenal vaca with the family; I am just the happiest camper. Seven days filled with pina coladas, ridiculously fast boat rides, bike rides down a volcano, snorkeling in the turquoise waters, frolicking along the softest-sand beaches, delicious food, and relaxation.

I do hope all of your Thanksgiving holidays were magical. I have missed blogging. (Hopefully that does not make me too much of a dork).

I have compiled a few outfit photos from the past week. Hope you like them :) It was certainly a change from my normal garb, but I enjoyed the sundresses and cut-off shorts.

Wearing thrifted dresses, cropped blazer, sandals, Cheap Mondays green off-the-shoulder, DIY denim shorts, Bestsey Johnson peacock necklace.

Smile for me, baby! It's oh so lovely to be back!

Super x High Snobiety

So my little brother just told me about a sweet new collaboration that Super Sunglasses is doing with street fashion blog High Snobiety. I hadn't heard of the blog until I heard about the sunglasses but it's got some pretty great stuff, think bright sneakers and hoodies.

I have a pair of the classic white Supers which I wear just about every day and I think it's about time I got a new pair. These just might be the ones I spring for seeing as I'm absolutely in love with the super thick frames and like the other Super styles they look extremely wearable and are fairly affordable. I would love the glasses version, but I'm thinking I'd get more use out of the sunnies. Now I just have to get someone to hop over to Fred Segal and pick me up a pair since, sadly, I am now at the airport on my way back to school.

Break was lovely but way too short. Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Smile for me, baby.

Prepster

I just realized that I neglected to mention I'm back in California! It is so nice, but strange to go from 35 degree weather to 75, but I'm not complaining.

We went to the MOCA today because I wanted to see some Jackson Pollack paintings in person and they have a relatively large collection. We've been talking about them a bunch in my art class and, though I really disliked them at first, I have developed a sort of admiration for the drip method Pollack used and the completely original way he made his art. But lo and behold, the Pollacks were put away for some reason so I didn't get to see any. Thanks so much to my family though for schlepping to the museum with me, despite really having no desire to go.

We passed by the Walt Disney Concert Hall on our way and I couldn't help but photograph it. I just think it's one of the most beautiful buildings I've ever seen and particularly in person, it's quite sublime. The architect Frank Gehry is one of my favorites and the building is just a really stark contrast to the harsh high-rises that you usually see in LA, which draws you even more to it. I forget how much I love this city.

"The best thing in life to hold on to is each other"

Went to grandparents house today, where this outfit was interestingly received. What a strange day.

Last night my cousin, brother and I went to the Of Montreal show, which was awesome. If you haven't heard about their live shows, the lead singer, Kevin Barnes, is famous for being nearly naked onstage and  being accompanied by various people dressed us as animals running around. They are so much fun though and it really just feels like you're at a big dance party.

Check out their new album, it's super.

Goodbye, my friends. I am off to Maui with my lovely fam to eat turkey sandwiches on the beach. I am beyond thankful, believe me...so excited!

top four

I know it is only Thursday, but I have decided on what I am going to refer to "my favorites of the week." These are the four things that have caught my eye and captured my attention in these past few days.

This Picture:
The expression in her eyes. The movement of the feathers and fringe. The softness of the colors. The wind and the curls in her hair. The way her hair is covering her face, leaving her looking so coy and mysterious. The streaks of light. I just cannot get over it. There is something ever so ethereal about it.

These pants:
They're high-waisted. They have studs. They're $65 dollars. Enough said.

This boy:
Love his scruff. Love that his hair/scruff is red. Love that he is making sexy eyes (unfortunately, he is probably looking at some other woman). Love his blazer. Love his boots.

This Shirt:
Men's Active shirt stolen from a guy friend. And I love it. The sleeves are wide and an odd length and awkward, which makes it perfect. I dig awkwardness. It's so human. Back to the shirt- Comfortable. Long. Slouchy. Perf.

Well, there they are.

I am really enjoying being a part of the whole blogging realm these days. I will admit, I have spent a few sad days thinking no one even read our little blog. But lately we have been getting comments and feedback from the loveliest of fashionistas (we do go and read all of your blogs). It is very encouraging, I must say. So thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Lauren Fierce

I am completely and totally obsessed with this video. I don't even know what else to say. I am determined to learn these moves.

Smile for me, Beyonce.

Stripe Hype

I just threw on this outfit as find of whatever and then I really liked the way the stripe on stripe layering looked. Let me know if this is crazy or not. And I just thought my little roommate, Haley, looked to cute not to take a picture of. I love the way she makes an oxford and chucks look awesome.

I feel like jeans and jackets have been my staples lately. It's just one of those days, ya know? I finished crocheting a beanie tonight and my friend crocheted me a skirt/ shirt. I'll try to post it soon..I might even get to wear it if it's warm enough in California!

Smile for me, baby.

A few nights ago, one of my dearest friends and I embarked on a bit of a major photoshoot mish. Over two hundred photos were taken in about 60 minutes time, the results of which I am fairly satisfied with. It was mostly for fun, but we did manage to snap a handful of good outfit shots.

To those who dwell in or near this "precious" city: There are actually some very lovely bits our our town, no? I am not saying that it is the happiest place on earth, by any means, but its not all bad. Not at all. These shots were taken near an older church building on Brockton. Such a pretty part of the city...

Wearing many many things, some of which include:
  • vintage sequin blazer
  • gojane.com boots
  • vintage necklace worn as headband
  • Betsy Johnson floral dress
  • Mom's old fur & "Big Sister" shirt
  • h&m neon coral skirt & beanie

There are about a jillan gallions of additional pictures. I've put the links of a few below.

Hope everyone is having an absolutely splendid weekend.

"I'm not mad. I'm just disappointed"

Today I went here:

And saw these:

Willem DeKooning's "Women IV"

Bridget Riley's "Arrest 2"

Oh and I wore this:

The first picture is purely for Haley's viewing pleasure.

Shirt: J. Crew
Pants and Boots: Thrift
Belt: Miry

Smile for me, baby. Oh and my title is what my art teacher said to me when I told her I hadn't done the reading before getting to the museum.

such great heights

I love heels "to the extend that it's absurd," as Ben Gibbard would say. And although I may not be able to buy any right now, it still brings me joy to see all the wonderful styles, colors, and elevations these marvelous shoes are coming out in. I came across this batch in my usual slew of websites the last night.

The first pair were brought to my attention by the lovely and fashionable Paige. They also come in black, but I'm way digging the olive. And the chunky heel.

I love the peep toe on the second one. Totally defeats the functional purpose of a boot, but since when does that matter? Ha.

The third are deliciously gaudy looking with all the gold hardware. I love how the buckles are sort of randomly placed.

I have been wanting a brightly colored pair of heels for a while, and these orange ones are way fun. The 5 inch heel certainly adds to their appeal.

Ahh and finally, number 5. Isn't she lovely? Isn't she wonderful? About a year ago, Mary-Kate wore these and I nearly died:

I am just wishing they came in white like MK's...

If you ever get lonely just go to the record store and visit your friends.

I desperately want a jacket like this for winter. Currently looking in thrift stores and ebay. Any suggestions?

Bonjour! Bonjour! Oh my God!

Today I actually wore heels. And I didn't just stay home. These shoes are actually really comfortable, but heavy. And it was semi-warm today so I didn't even have to take a jacket!

Ugh, I'm doing catching-up things today like banking and cleaning and such. I even scheduled an appointment with a T.A. to figure out why I have a C in a class (yikes), but being the fool that I am I never responded when he emailed me a time. So now I'm sitting in this cafe blogging instead of getting my grades up. This is admittedly more fun.

Pants: J. Crew (for $1 at a thrift store!)
Shirt: H and M
Scarf as belt: thrift
Shoes: Target

Smile for me, baby. And please tell me you know what movie my title is from!

si mignon

The bunnies. The beanies. The hair. The cigs. Mickey.
This spread is adorable. I'm loving her dark lipstick. I think Drew probably had a good ol' time at this shoot for Pop Mag's Autumn Issue, skipping around with furry animals, smoking cigarettes, drinking Gatorade...

Ah to be beautiful and famous...

Just kidding.

My favorites are the first two pictures. What are yours?
